The working group has developed a code of conduct that enables companies to identify and address sustainability bottlenecks in their supply chain. The code of conduct includes labour rights, human rights and environmental standards.
Step-by step approach
The working group stands for a gradual implementation of the code of conduct at production locations in a step-by-step process. Severe violations of the code need to be addressed immediately. Some problems are however too complex or too intertwined with the local social structure and can’t be resolved from one day to the other. Therefore local organizations such as employers 'and workers' organizations and NGOs are being closely involved in tackling the identified suitability issues.
