SUMMARY CODE OF CONDUCT


The Working Group on Sustainable Natural Stone has developed a code of conduct that can be used by companies to identify and address sustainability bottlenecks within their supply chain.


Society

  1. Compliance with the (inter)national laws and legislation. including licenses for extraction and/or processing,
  2. Respect for local communities.
  3. Involvement of local and national stakeholders in choices regarding sustainability.

 

Labour

  1. No forced labour
  2. No child labour
  3. No discrimination at work
  4. Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining
  5. A living wage
  6. Working hours are not excessive
  7. Health and safety in the work place and housing facilities for migrant workers
  8. A legal labour contract


Environment

  1. Protection of ground and surface water
  2. Clean air
  3. Processing of waste
  4. Protection of biodiversity
